St. Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent DePaul, a French priest...

St. Vincent DePaul, a French priest, began his charitable works in hospitals for the poor, guided orphans & delinquents, provided shelter for the needy, and led prison reforms in France starting in 1617. The society that bears his name is a worldwide Catholic lay organization of men and women of all ages. It was founded in 1833 by a French college student, Frederic Ozanam, to help alleviate social problems.

The following report of the St. Joan of Arc Conference of St. Vincent de Paul outlines the ministries and projects of our conference. If you would like to serve in one of the ministries or work on a project please call the HELPLINE 508-255-8080.

Annual Report – FY 2025

(Fiscal Year: October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025)

Dear Parishioners:

Our St. Vincent de Paul Parish Conference has focused on three areas during our 2025 Fiscal Year: Emergency Assistance, Food Programs, and St. Joseph House.

The board members of our Conference wish to express their gratitude for the tremendous cooperation and generosity demonstrated by the parishioners of St. Joan of Arc Church.

The officers also wish to express their gratitude to the over 30 active members, including about 20 Advocates and approximately 10 additional board members who do much of the necessary work, plus associate, and contributing members. Members of our parish donated over 1,000 service hours to the organizational activities and charitable works of the Society during the past year.

OUR MISSION

(1) EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FOR OUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED – About 20 volunteers, known as Advocates, have provided immediate relief and counsel, confidentially, on a person-to-person basis. The conference has assisted close to 170 families, disbursing $78,000 for shelter (including the Housing with Love fundraiser, Homeless Prevention Council and Habitat for Humanity),groceries, fuel, utilities, medical, auto related, and other needs. In addition, food was distributed to neighbors in need through Advocate home visits and through the Food Pantry. 33 Stop & Shop food cards valued at $35.00 each were distributed. Volunteers donated over 250 hours to these programs.

(2) FOOD PROGRAMS – For Thanksgiving, Stop & Shop Gift cards, valued at $5,087, were donated for distribution to our neighbors. This donation was in lieu of our pre-COVID food packing and distribution project.

(3) ST. JOSEPH HOUSE – We were able to provide monthly meal deliveries for about 60 clients at St. Joseph House. Over 250 volunteer hours were committed to this outreach program.

If you would like to help us, please call our HELPLINE, leave your name, and telephone number and we will contact you.  New volunteers are always needed and welcome.

Our Conference participates in the SVdP Car Donation Program. Flyers are available at all the doors to the Church. Call 800-322-8284 or go to www.svdpusacars.com

Our funds have been provided through generous donations from you, our parishioners, on Harvest Sundays, Holy Days of Obligation, and through the poor boxes in conjunction with the generosity of Father Steve.

Thank you for helping us to help others.
